  USV-JSC CHAPLAIN CORPS

The United States Volunteers – Joint Services Command (USV-JSC) Chaplain Corps is composed of military chaplains, active and retired; and qualified civilian clergy. The USV-JSC chaplains are disciplined, trained and loyal uniformed volunteers that serve locally and stand ready to serve nationally our nation’s veterans under the Department of Defense’s AP3 Program. To become a USV-JSC chaplain, you must be a fully qualified member of the clergy of your religious group with the appropriate educational background. Our chaplains come from all religious faith groups. You must be sensitive to religious pluralism and committed to the free exercise of religion. Finally, you must become a member of USV-JSC and pass a background check to rule out any prior felony convictions.  USV-JSC’s primary mission is “Boots on Graves,” rendering proper Military Funeral Honors for every veteran who has honorably served this nation.

USV-JSC CHAPLAIN CORPS
NATIONAL CHIEF OF CHAPLAINS

The USV-JSC Chaplain Corps officially organized in 2006. Since that time, qualified men and women have been recruited to serve as Chaplains at our Nation’s National Cemeteries. The Chief of Chaplains qualifies and approves all candidates for volunteer service in the USV-JSC Chaplain Corps. Professional development is available and must be completed for promotions and to keep current on the policies and requirements of the AP3 Program which provides for Military Funeral Honors for our nation’s veterans.

  THE MISSION

Because of the war on terrorism, our active and reserve forces are committed to preserving our democratic free society. As a result, 90% of America’s finest are buried without Military Funeral Honors. There is a critical shortage of properly trained, experienced, uniformed Chaplains to support the mission of rendering burial services other than a uniformed member of the Service of the deceased and a “boom box” or an electronic bugle for TAPS. The USV-JSC provides flag folders, the salute by a rifle squad, an honor guard and a Chaplain. Learn more about USV-JSC by visiting https://usvjsc.org

Because of this shortage, the USV-JSC Chaplain Corps is gearing up to recruit and train more qualified chaplains to be sure that more of our veterans are honored with “Boots on Graves” as was intended by Congress before this severe shortage of uniformed men and women arose.
